Learn Chinese -Mike needs a Chinese driver’s license!- Chinese Online Class

| An international driver’s license doesn’t work in many areas in China. You have to apply for a Chinese license because some of China’s traffic signals and control systems are different from those of other countries. You will have to pass all theory and practice tests before receiving a driver’s license in China. |
lì li: mài kè, nǐ yǒu jià shǐ zhí zhào ma?
丽丽：麦克，你有驾驶执照吗? 
Lili: Do you have a driver’s license, Mike?
mài kè: yǒu a, wǒ yǒu guó jì jià shǐ zhí zhào.
麦克：有啊，我有国际驾驶执照。 
Mike: Yeah, I have an international driver’s license.
lì li: zhè gè zài zhōng guó hěn duō dì qū bù guǎn yòng. wǒ kàn nǐ hái shì xū yào yī běn zhōng guó jià zhào.
丽丽：这个在中国很多地区不管用。我看你还是需要一本中国驾照。 
Lili: It doesn’t work in many areas in China. I think you need a Chinese driver’s license.
mài kè: zěn me cái néng ná dào ne?
麦克：怎么才能拿到呢？ 
Mike: How can I get one?
lì li: shǒu xiān yào zài yí gè jià xiào bào bíng, rán hòu cān jiā kǎo shì.
丽丽：首先要在一个驾校报名，然后参加考试。 
Lili: You should sign up for driving school and then take tests.
mài kè: wǒ xiǎng mǎ shàng jiù bào yí gè jià xiào. nǐ néng gěi wǒ yī diǎnr jiàn yì ma?
麦克：我想马上就报一个驾校。你能给我一点儿建议吗？ 
Mike: I want to sign up for driving school at once. Do you have any advice?
lì li: běi jīng yǒu hěn duō jià xiào, jiù jìn xuǎn yī gè ba.
丽丽：北京有很多驾校，就近选一个吧。 
Lili: There are lots of driving schools in Beijing. You can choose one nearby.
mài kè: bào míng fèi duō shǎo qián?
麦克：报名费多少钱？ 
Mike: How much does it cost to sign up?
lì li: zuì jìn zhǎng jià le, děi sì qiān duō kuài.
丽丽：最近涨价了，得四千多块。 
Lili: The price is rising now. It is more than 4,000 yuan.
mài kè: duì wǒ lái shuō dào bú suàn tài guì. jià zhào kǎo shì nán ma?
麦克：对我来说倒不算太贵。驾照考试难吗？ 
Mike: That’s not too expensive for me. Are the driving tests difficult?
lì li: bù nán. yǒu liǎng bù fen: bǐ shì hé lù kǎo. bǐ shì jiù shì kǎo jiāo guī.
丽丽：不难。有两部分：笔试和路考。笔试就是考交规。 
Lili: No, they aren’t. There are two parts: a written test and a road test. The written part is a traffic regulation test.
mài kè: měi gè bào míng de rén dōu néng ná dào jià zhào ma?
麦克：每个报名的人都能拿到驾照吗？ 
Mike: Can every applicant be guaranteed a driver’s license?
lì li: yě bú shì. qù nián jiù yǒu chāo guò bǎi fēn zhī shí de rén méi ná dào.
丽丽：也不是。去年就有超过百分之十的人没拿到。 
Lili: No. Last year more than 10 percent of the applicants were denied.
mài kè: kàn lái wǒ hái zhēn děi xià diǎnr gōng fu cái xíng.
麦克：看来我还还真得下点功夫才行。 
Mike: It seems I really have to work hard on it.
